Turay Atlantis – Undegorged Natural Sparkling Wine from Neszmély
Dive into the purest bubbles of nature with one of the most exciting creations from the Hungarian low-intervention wine scene!
Turay Atlantis natural sparkling wine is an undegorged, zero-dosage sparkling wine (Brut Nature) made 100% from Zenit grapes using the traditional method (méthode traditionnelle) in the Neszmély wine region.
This bottle represents a perfect harmony between radical natural winemaking and elegant craftsmanship.
The Magic of Undegorged Sparkling Wine
In traditional method sparkling wine production, the sediment (lees) is typically removed before final corking—a process known as disgorgement.
However, for Turay Atlantis natural sparkling wine, this step was intentionally skipped. Leaving the fine lees inside the bottle creates a cloudy, raw appearance and gives the wine a creamy texture and evolving complexity. Furthermore, the sediment acts as a natural antioxidant, allowing the winemaker to bottle this beauty with zero added sulfur.
Grown with Biodynamic Principles
The Turay Family Winery manually harvests the grapes from 20-year-old vines on the volcanic slopes of Neszmély.
The vineyards are farmed following Rudolf Steiner’s holistic and biodynamic philosophy.
No systemic chemicals, synthetic pesticides, or artificial fertilizers are ever used. Instead, the family strengthens the vines with herbal teas and natural preparations, ensuring that the local terroir speaks clearly through every single bubble.
In the glass, Turay Atlantis natural sparkling wine shows a charming, unfiltered haziness with golden-green reflections. The nose opens with crisp green apple, vibrant citrus peel, and deep brioche notes from the extended yeast contact. On the palate, the lively acidity of the Zenit grape provides a refreshing and long-lasting finish.
Before opening, we highly recommend gently rolling the bottle upside down to distribute the natural sediment evenly. It pairs beautifully with fresh seafood, oysters, creamy cheeses, or spicy Asian dishes. It is also an absolute showstopper when served as an aperitif for special occasions.
