The Sziegl Kadarka natural wine is a 100% Kadarka red wine crafted from the old vines of the historic Herre vineyard.

Winemakers Balázs Sziegl and Petra Sziegl manage their estate with absolute respect for nature. Consequently, this light-bodied bottle highlights their honest, non-interventionist craftsmanship perfectly.

Traditional Open-Vat Fermentation and Oak AgingThe winemakers follow a highly artisanal approach to shape the delicate profile of Sziegl Kadarka natural wine. Specifically, they ferment the manually harvested grapes in open vats with gentle manual punching down. The native yeasts start fermentation spontaneously without any commercial additives.

Afterwards, the wine matures on its fine lees in large, neutral 500-liter oak barrels. Furthermore, this traditional barrel aging rounds out the wine's structure beautifully. As a result, the final wine gains a remarkably smooth texture without absorbing heavy oak flavors.

The unique loess and sandy soils of Hajós infuse the vines with distinct spiciness. The family manages their plots using strictly organic and biodynamic philosophies to protect the soil. Therefore, they completely ban systemic pesticides, herbicides, or artificial fertilizers in the vineyards.In the cellar, they respect the natural process and avoid heavy filtration. Ultimately, they bottle Sziegl Kadarka natural wine unfiltered and unfined with only a minimal sulfur addition at bottling to preserve its living energy.

In your glass, this low-intervention red wine shows a beautiful, translucent light ruby color. The nose quickly reveals an aromatic bouquet of wild raspberries, red cherries, and cranberries. Additionally, you will notice a classic touch of freshly crushed black pepper.

On the palate, a remarkably juicy texture balances beautifully with soft tannins and fresh acidity.This versatile red wine works incredibly well with gastronomy. For instance, you can pair it with roasted duck, traditional Hungarian paprika dishes, or wild mushroom risotto. Additionally, it complements light pasta dishes beautifully. We highly recommend serving this bottle slightly chilled at around 14–15 °C.
