Natural wine, to me, isn’t a category. It isn’t a trend, and it isn’t just another label on a bottle.
Natural wine is a feeling. A moment when the wine doesn’t try to be more than what it is: pure, honest, natural.
When I first encountered natural wines, I wasn’t interested in the technical definition. Not how much intervention happens in the cellar, or which processes are left out. What captured me was that these wines are alive. There’s a vibration in them, a raw beauty that can’t be manipulated.
Natural wine, to me, is like someone who isn’t trying to fit in — who is simply, unapologetically themselves.
Natural Wine Is the Taste of Honesty
What I love about natural wine is that it doesn’t try to be “perfect.” It doesn’t try to taste the same every year. It doesn’t try to be smoothed over.
Natural wine owns its own character:
- the soil it grew in,
- the vintage,
- the weather,
- the winemaker’s hand.
That honesty is why natural wine, to me, is so much more than a drink.
It’s an encounter. A conversation with the wine, with the vineyard, with the winemaker — and ultimately, with myself too.
Natural Wine as a Space for Freedom
To me, natural wine is freedom.
Freedom for the winemaker, who doesn’t have to fit into “market expectations.”
Freedom for the drinker, who doesn’t have to understand the jargon.
Freedom for me, to say:
“This wine is exactly what it needs to be, right now.”
Natural wine doesn’t try to convince everyone.
It doesn’t try to taste the same in every glass.
And that’s exactly what makes it lovable.
Natural Wine Is the Present Moment
To me, natural wine is the art of slowing down.
Whenever I pour a natural wine, I pause for a moment.
I look at its color, take in its aroma, and let something happen.
Natural wine doesn’t rush.
It doesn’t try to be instantly figured out.
It asks for time — and in return, it gives something the world offers less and less of: presence.
Why Does This Matter to Me at BYTHEWAY?
BYTHEWAY WINE CULT, to me, isn’t just a brand — it’s an idea: that wine can be modern, clean-lined, urban — and deeply natural at the same time.
Natural wine is the soul of BYTHEWAY, to me.
The kind of wine that doesn’t try to compete on a “wine shelf,” but instead tells stories.
Its own story.
My story.
Our story.
What Natural Wine Means to Me: Purity, Freedom, Presence
If I had to put it in one sentence:
Natural wine, to me, is a wine that doesn’t try to be more than what it is — and that’s exactly what makes it more, in every single sip.
That’s why I love it.
That’s why I work with it.
That’s why I’m building BY THE WAY.
